I was born in Dublin a long time ago. I always played music and went through many phases, including 70's glam rock, traditional Irish, rock and roll, and general stupidity. I played solo, and with several bands, but never really considered making a career of music, until.... I emigrated to the Washington DC area in 1987.
There was a very vibrant music scene in DC then , and I was lucky enough the meet the right people, at the right time. I formed Atlantic Bridge in 1989 with Jonny McIntire (an utterly amazing musician, who still performs with me now and then) and Janet Donnelly, a smashing singer and bodhran walloper. We played part time for several years, but part time became almost full time, and eventually Janet and Jonny concentrated on their full time jobs, and I embarked on a solo career in '96.
I have been playing local pubs and restaurants in the DC Metro area on a regular basis since then, and am happy to continue doing so. I play a mixture of Traditional Irish, Irish Ballads, Country, Rock, Alternative, and even one hip-hop song. I try not to stick to any particular genre, and play what people seem to want to hear, and it seems to be working so far.
We occasionally put together Atlantic Bridge (yours truly, Jonny Mac: Mandolin/Fiddle/Vocals Randy Lattimer: Fiddle and Charlie MacNamara: Bass/Vocals) and I will let you know when our next one is coming up.
I would love to see you at one of my shows, and feel free to request any songs, despite my (tongue in cheek) intro. "If you have any requests, please keep them to yourselves".
